Managing Farm Safety Course

The Managing Farm Safety one-day workshops are a practical, hands on program for delivery of current best practice management for farm health and safety. The workshops assist farmers from all types of enterprise to develop skills and management tools to meet their legal requirements and productivity goals.

Why??

As a small business owner you have certain rights and responsibilities regarding health and safety in your workplace.

Even if you don't have employees, you must ensure that your business doesn't create health and safety problems for your customers and the general public.

Knowing and understanding the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) laws will help you avoid the unneccessary costs and damage to your business caused by workplace injury and illness.

Under OH&S Legislation You are Obliged to Provide:

  • Safe premises
  • Safe machinery and subtances
  • Safe systems of work
  • Information, instruction, training and supervision
  • A suitable working environment and facilities

The Managing Farm Safety Course:

  • A combination of theory and practical activities
  • Can be conducted on-farm (discount applies for host farmer)
  • Is suitable for both men and women
  • Provides participants with accredited training farm health and safety management (nationally accredited certificate provided on completion of the course)
  • Participants are provided with a resource for on-farm use

Workshop participants receive a comprehensive resource package and may be eligible for substantial discounts on workers compensation insurance premiums.

Course costs (as at June 2008):

$285 including GST

$210 inlcuding GST for additional person (from same farm)

Farmsafe WA Alliance members are eligible for a 10% reduction in the cost of the course.
